Kits 2 Remember Krew Kit #10

The new Krew Kit is available now at the Kit store. This month features a soft line from Basic Grey and a 6x6 tabbed album from ClearScraps.

I design a Sisters album for my girls with some of my favorite pictures.

For each layout I have featured a focal photo and on the left a pocket with a tag that has a poem about sisters.

I broke down the working process into repeated steps. I first layered my background pages and added the photos. Then I printed the name plates and tags. I then added the name plates. Then I embellished all of the tags at one time. Last I Embellished all of the pockets at one time and added them to the pages. 

Also in the Kit were a couple of chipboard panels and a metal panel so I had enough supplies to also create a mini magnet board.

Nurse Card- Congratulations!

Congratulations Camie Dye for not only following your heart but giving all of it as well!

My friend Camie is an amazing person, friend, wife, mother and now Nurse. About 2 years ago she took a chance and turned her life upside down to go back to school to become a nurse. She sets a great example for her 2 daughters as well as mine, that as a woman in this country you can be anything you want to. Even with the job of raising a family and her obligations to the community she has been able to complete her intense 2 year program with a 99.5% average! Nursing is something she is passionate about and you can tell. She has now dedicated herself to helping others in a career that will allow her to leave a mark. 

Of course among her many talents she is also a Scrapbooker like me (us). This is the amazing invitation she designed with her Craftrobo for her Graduation invitation. 

This is the card I made for her. I was inspired by this card on Kristina's blog. 

It reads "BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD".

Happy New Year! Here's to possibilities.

After completing ALL of the projects on my Christmas list I am feeling confident that I will do many great things this year. I am looking forward to filling this blog with more inspiring projects and am planning to amp it up with new interactive challenges.

I said I would share some of those project from my list so lets start with the Christmas Cookie packages. Now I have to admit I am not a cook or a baker but one of our traditions is making cookies together. So every year we make a big mess and have a ball doing it whether or not the cookies are good is usually a 50/50 chance but our friends and neighbors always accept them with a smile. 

 

I used scraps and die cuts to create the tags for our packages.

This project is a clock that had been on my list for at least a year now and in the spirit of the season I made time to complete it for my sister. This is the design before I screwed on the wood cover.

I told you about the books I have made for my nephew Ethan and I did complete his for this year along with a DVD I made in imovie. I love making movies now. I take some video footage, pics, music, and BAM Im a producer! I also love scrapping the cover. 

For the album I chose an 8x8 size. Even though I am only telling the story of one event I usually still have many photos so I find this size to work well. This is a Chatterbox suede album I picked up double of at an expo a few months ago. I know it is a joke how we buy scrap supplies but I love that I have a custom store at my disposal, I always find just what I need in my stash and thus eliminate trips to the store when I am crunched for time (thats always). I wanted to make an album for my in-laws and Ethan as well as a duplicate for us so having 2 of these drop in albums saved me so much time and planning. 

Thanks to my custom store I just pulled the albums plus 2 packs of this Cosmo Cricket Get Happy 8x8 paper and I was off.

I was inspired by Stacy Julians article in this months Simple Scrapbooks Magazine (pg.66 jan/feb) called Finish line scrapbooking. The goal of the article is to create a 40-photo album in 4 hours. I followed her advice and got 2 albums done in an evening! As I created each page I made 2 of everything, this made it so much easier and I really felt like I had accomplished a lot as I slipped 4 pages into the books at a time.

This year was special because we got to deliver our gifts to them in person! We headed up to northern California to spend 4 days. The girls love to drive up, they have so much fun seeing all of the different city's as we drive up the 5. I am obsessed with the new Fall Out Boy album so we rocked it all the way there and back, with of course some movie breaks.

It is sooooo good! Ok how funny, I was just getting the links for this post and I came across the video for America's Suithearts that was just released today. I was just going to say that is our favorite song on the album! Ha, and I was watching the first episode of the 2nd season of Californication the other night and guess who was in it, Pete Wentz.

Anyway, so we took the train to San Fransisco with them. The Girls love exploring and of course spending time with their E. Thank goodness the kids brought their DS' to keep the Dads quiet for the trip!

The city was all decorated for Christmas and we had fantastic guides.

What a day! Thanks Darren and Jane for showing us such a good time.

 My big goal for this year is to make more memories like this! 

Acrylic Home Scrapbook Album

Here is one of the projects I sent to Kits2Remember last week.

Its a ClearScraps Acrylic word album available at K2R. 

In this album I document our home. I feel this is important because our home is the backdrop for the majority of our memories. I still remember every detail of the home I grew up in. My parents divorced and sold our home and I sometimes have the urge to go back and knock on the door and ask for a few moments inside. I have very few photos of the home I grew up in and I wish I had more. I would love one more look at my old bedroom or the avocado fridge. So I made this album for my children to reminisce with in years to come.

The inspiration for the design was a FREE class at Big Picture Scrapbooking taught by Stacy Julian. You can take it here. The slideshow is great and the mp3 download is helpful. 

I used her idea for the paint trim on the letters and leaving them clear.

I chose to allow some of the photos to show through the front

but I like the idea of hiding the majority on the back sides.

I have a few more photos I want to document so I am thinking 

about creating a companion album, the ClearScraps acylic house. 

Papercrafted Christmas cards

What day is it? I have been buried in glue dots and pattern paper day and night! But I am finally caught up on all of the projects on my list to date, ah. I thought I would share the cards that just went out. I played around with a couple of designs....

For these I used the Keepsake Card Craft Embossing boards.

The Papers are from My Mind's Eye and Basic Grey.

Also this week Mackenzie went with FAME caroling around El Cajon

including the Firehouse. She LOVES to sing so having an audience 

is a treat for her!

This weekend Camie and I are taking the girls to the Cheetah Girls concert. Lydia and Mackenzie are looking forward to our annual baking marathon. I still have one more mini book to finish, last year I made a book for Ethan from our trip up there for Thanksgiving and this year I am making one for him from their trip down here in September. We are headed up there the day after Christmas for a week of what the girls are calling "second Christmas". Love it! Share that with ya later!

Acrylic Knott's Berry Farm Christmas Album

This months Krew Kit from Kits2Remember features some fabulous Basic Grey Fuitcake papers as well as an 8x8 Clear Scraps Tabbed Album.  I wanted to take one specific Christmas memory to tell the story of in this album.

Every year our family takes a few days to spend at Knotts Berry Farm to soak up the Christmas Cheer. 

We love it because of the Vintage Holiday feel and of course the Snoopy Holiday Ice Show! 

After finishing this book I am even more excited about going this year!!

The girls love the parade and of course the Snoopy Holiday on Ice Show is always fantastic! Macie loves the "snow" that falls through the theatre at the end of the show.

Before we head out to Knott's we have a couple more Soccer Tournaments. This past weekend was the first time Mackenzie has played with the new Tournament team and they Won!!!

It was a CRAZY INTENSE game for first place. Both teams played their best. It actually came down to a shoot off after 2,  7 min overtime quarters! It was so exciting when Amanda made the last goal for our team and locked it up! The side lines went nuts!

Scrapbook your Soccer star team DVD and coach magnet board

Ok first I saw Twilight Friday night with Kenz, Lydia, Mom, Camie, Natalie, and Amanda and we had the best time! 

It was sooooo fifth period in the theatre, when Edward showed up there were screams and through out the movie tons of giggling and whoo hoos! Lydia, Natalie, and I were cracking up when we saw Billy driving even though he is in a wheel chair and can't drive, ooops. But the mistake made us laugh. I thought the movie was really good I liked the directors style. I had been looking forward to watching the movie but I didn't anticipate how fun it would be to watch it with the girls.

We also had our final soccer game of the season on Saturday and our team party on Sunday.

We took 2nd place. Mackenzie was so sad after the game because she would not be playing with these girls anymore. This was a great team and every girl was a team player.

So for the team gift bags I put together a dvd in imovie and Scrapped a case for it.

I also made a Thank you card for Camie for all of her hard work and the girls for a great season. 

Camie made these fantastic gift bags with the Craft Robo!

For the coach I put together one of K2R's magnet boards for his Soccer room.

Whew! 

Now that regular season is over Mackenzie has been picked for the tournament team! She is so excited and we are looking forward to getting to know another great team.

Acrylic Flower Scrapbook

Today I posted this weeks Kits 2 Remember Krew project. Mine was an acrylic flower album. My design was inspired by some French blogs that I read like this one. I love her designs and I think Im learning French!

The French designs seem to favor a layering of elements along with soft filigree patterns.

I love this approach because it is so easy and gives me creative freedom as long as it is in clusters.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE using Pearls on everything now!
